Compassion in service of the Dhamma.
Spreading the Light of Dhamma. Serving Humanity with Compassion. We support the Bhikkhu Sangha, carry the Buddha's teaching to villages, and stand beside the poor and the wronged with practical help — and we walk the pilgrim's path together, through our Dhamma Yatra tours.
An ocean of compassion, in service of the Sangha and society
Karunasagar Foundation is a Mumbai-based Buddhist non-profit working under the guidance of Guruvarya Bhante Vishuddhanand Bodhi Mahasthavir. We exist to support the Bhikkhu Sangha, spread the Buddha's Dhamma in cities and villages alike, and serve the poor and the oppressed with direct, practical aid.
From training young Shramaners to organising pilgrimages to the sacred sites of Buddhism, our work is rooted in one idea — that compassion (Karuna) is meant to be acted upon, not merely admired.
- Monk training, ordination camps & welfare support
- Dhamma propagation in cities and remote villages
- Direct relief — clothes, ration & financial aid
Nine ways we put compassion into action
Every initiative below is carried out directly by our monks and volunteers — from training the next generation of Bhikkhus to standing beside families in their hardest moments.
Bhikkhu Training
Structured training programmes that prepare Buddhist monks for a life of discipline, study and service.
Shramaner Shibir (Novice Camps)
Residential camps where young aspirants take novice ordination and begin their monastic journey.
Robes & Bags for Dhamma-Preaching Monks
Providing chivar (robes) and travel bags to monks who carry the Dhamma from village to village.
Financial Assistance to Monks
Direct financial support that helps monks meet basic needs and continue their service without hardship.
Clothes Distribution to the Poor
Regular clothing-distribution drives for underprivileged families in and around Mumbai.
Grocery & Ration Kit Distribution
Essential ration kits delivered to families facing hardship.
Visiting & Helping Victims of Injustice
Foundation members travel to sites of injustice or atrocity to stand with affected families and offer support.
Distribution of Buddha Statues
Buddha idols are donated to homes, viharas and community spaces to encourage daily practice.
Village-Level Dhamma Propagation
Outreach programmes that carry the Buddha's teachings to villages with little or no access to organised Dhamma activity.
Seva, measured in people reached
